The Golf Rank Index - Player of the Year Index is determined by a comparison of the players leading the GRI Cumulative and Qualilty Performance Indices at the end of the season. If one player leads both catagories at the end of the year, he is automatically the Player of the Year. If different playes lead each catagory, a series of tiebreakers come into play including majors won, total wins and head-to-head points comparisons.

The 2006 Player of the Year Index begins posting after the U.S. Open in week 24.
