Sergio Garcia Wins

Garcia earned 437.67 GRI ranking points for the month of June while #2 Campbell finished with 400 points and U.S. Open runner-up, #3 Tiger Woods, finished with 349.14.
Going into the Barclays Classic, Memorial Tournament winner Bart Bryant was the only player with a chance to catch Garcia. Bryant's chances ended as he missed the 36-hole cut to finish the month at #4 with 272.85 points.
Padraig Harrington won the Barclays Classic yet finished 8th in the monthly standings with a total of 185.15 points. Harrington had additional opportunities but missed the cut at the Booz Allen and U.S. Open.
Overview of GRI rated June events:
Week 22 - Memorial Tournament - Bart Bryant overcomes an excellent field to earn 272.85 points for the victory. Runner-up Fred Couples earns 170.53 while Tiger Woods, Jeff Sluman and Bo Van Pelt earn 109.14 points apiece for their 3rd place tie. Singh, continues to serve notice that it's way too early to count him out of the race.
Week 23 - The Booz Allen Classic - Sergio Garcia's Sunday 65 was the round of day and enough to take a 2-shot victory and earn 269.15 points for the effort. Davis Love III, Ben Crane, and Adam Scott earned 134.58 points apiece for their tie for 3rd.
Week 24 - U.S. Open - Michael Campbell of New Zealand wins his first ever major and collects 400 GRI ranking points. Tiger Woods finishes 2nd to win 240 points and Sergio Garcia, Tim Clark and Mark Hensby earn 166.67 points apiece for their 3rd place tie.
Week 25 - Barclay's Classic - Padraig Harrington overtook Jim Furyk on the final hole to claim the 185.15 first place points. Furyk earned 111.09 for 2nd while Kenny Perry, Brad Faxon and Brian Gay earned 74.06 points apiece for their 3rd place tie.

Criteria for Golf Rank Index - Player of the Month
The Golf Rank Index (GRI) - Player of the Month is determined by totaling GRI ranking points earned in all GRI ranked professional golf events scheduled within a months time frame. Events that bridge a months end or beginning of another, are generally placed in the month in which they end, but may be shifted to the prior month to balance the number of events to be ranked in each month. In the event of a first place tie, co-winners will be named.
Eligibility - All players participating in GRI ranked events are eligible. They do not need to be a member of any professional golf tour.
Must Win - To be named a player of the month, the player MUST have a win in a GRI ranked event in the month. Should any player without a win earn the highest number of GRI ranking points for a given month, the player will be placed behind the highest ranked player with a win.
