Tiger Woods Tops 2003 GRI - Quality
Performance Index
 Singh 2nd, Weir 3rd,
Love 4th
(Monday, Nov. 10, 2003 - Golf Rank
Index)

The
Golf Rank Index - Quality Performance Index was virtually decided weeks ago,
but now its official. Tiger Woods has finished at the top, and in convincing
fashion.
The Quality Performance Index calculates the average GRI
ranking points a player earned on a PER EVENT basis for all events in
which the player participated.
Woods finished the year with an index
rating of 96.64 GRI ranking points earned per event played (PPE). Vijay Singh
followed in 2nd on the index with a PPE of 72.38 points, Mike Weir 3rd with
69.03 PPE and Davis Love III with a PPE of 65.05.
After his win at the
WGC-AMEX, Woods PPE average was over 100 GRI points and had he finished in a
tie for 5th or better at the season ending Tour Championship, he would have
remained there. Despite a disappointing 26th place finish in Houston, pulling
him below the century mark, Woods still outdistanced his nearest competitor,
Vijay Singh, by nearly 25 points per event.
Complete ranking for the
top-50 players eligible for the Golf Rank Index - Quality Performance Index are
listed below. (Minimum of 15 events to qualify)
