	Shuan Micheel Wins GRI - August 2003 Player of the Month • Love, Clarke, Furyk & Triplett Win in August (September 2, 2003 - Golf Rank Index) Shaun Micheel's stunning victory at the PGA Championship was enough to earn the Golf Rank Index - August Player of the Month. Micheel earned 400 GRI index points for the win and placed him well above his more famous counterparts including Davis Love III, Vijay Singh and Tiger Woods among others. A solid August performance was also turned in by Davis Love III. Love won The International to gain 202 ranking points, then followed up with a solid 3rd place finish at the WGC-NEC to earn another 125 points giving him a total for the month of 327. Rounding out the top 3 for August was Darren Clarke with 250 points, all earned by his win at the WGC-NEC. Other winners for the month of August included Jim Furyk at the Buick Open (165 ranking points for the win - 236 for the month) and Kirk Triplett at the Reno - Tahoe Open (100 ranking points for the win). Several other players in contention for the GRI - Player of the year also had solid point totals for the month as well. Vijay Singh earned 186 ranking points for the month and Tiger Woods earned 162. Events that bridge a months end or beginning of another, are generally placed in the month in which they end, but may be shifted to the prior month to balance the number of events to be ranked in each month. In the event of a first place tie, co-winners will be named. Eligibility - All players participating in GRI ranked events are eligible. They do not need to be a member of any professional golf tour. Must Win - To be named a player of the month, the player MUST have a win in a GRI ranked event in the month. Should any player without a win earn the highest number of GRI ranking points for a given month, they will be placed behind the highest ranked player with a win.
