Stephen Ames notched a 6-shot victory at the PLAYERS Championship, earned 338.10 GRI ranking points in the process and won the GRI March Player of the Month race.

The points Ames earned at the PLAYERS were enough by themselves to win the March Player of the Month, but he had two other top-25 finishes in March as well, finishing T20 at the Ford Championship and T7 at the Honda Classic. Ames ended the month with 378.20 points.

Tiger Woods successfully defended his Ford Championship at Doral title in the first week of the month and finished #2 on the March Index with 292.69 points. Despite not winning a March event, Columbian Camilo Villegas finished in the #3 spot with 273.82 points.

Bay Hill winner Rod Pampling finished #4 with 267.85 points followed by PLAYERS runner-up, Retief Goosen, with 226.23 points.

Criteria for Golf Rank Index - Player of the Month

The Golf Rank Index (GRI) - Player of the Month is determined by totaling GRI ranking points earned in all GRI ranked professional golf events scheduled within a months time frame. Events that bridge a months end or beginning of another, are generally placed in the month in which they end, but may be shifted to the prior month to balance the number of events to be ranked in each month. In the event of a first place tie, co-winners will be named.

Eligibility - All players participating in GRI ranked events are eligible. They do not need to be a member of any professional golf tour.

Must Win - To be named a player of the month, the player MUST have a win in a GRI ranked event in the month. Should any player without a win earn the highest number of GRI ranking points for a given month, the player will be placed behind the highest ranked player with a win.
