Rory Sabbatini used a top-25 finish at the FBR Open and then a 2nd place finish at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-AM as a springboard to victory the following week at the Nissan Open and to a win in the GRI February 2006 Player of the Month race.

Despite an early exit at the Match Play, Sabbatini's consistant early month play was enough to earn 391.18 GRI ranking points for the month, more than 46 points ahead of WGC Accenture Match Play winner Geoff Ogilvy. Ogilvy earned 322.75 points for his victory, but only earned 22 points the rest of the month to total 344.73 for the month.

#3 Arron Oberholser won the AT&T and notched two more top-25 finishes to finish the month with 246.24 GRI ranking points while #4 J.B Holmes overpowered the course and the field at the FBR Open to earn 235.85 points for the win and take that total to month's end.

Criteria for Golf Rank Index - Player of the Month

The Golf Rank Index (GRI) - Player of the Month is determined by totaling GRI ranking points earned in all GRI ranked professional golf events scheduled within a months time frame. Events that bridge a months end or beginning of another, are generally placed in the month in which they end, but may be shifted to the prior month to balance the number of events to be ranked in each month. In the event of a first place tie, co-winners will be named.

Eligibility - All players participating in GRI ranked events are eligible. They do not need to be a member of any professional golf tour.

Must Win - To be named a player of the month, the player MUST have a win in a GRI ranked event in the month. Should any player without a win earn the highest number of GRI ranking points for a given month, the player will be placed behind the highest ranked player with a win.
